T-T Hidro Boost® AutoSmart®+ VSD Constant Pressure Clean Water Booster Set
Premium Variable-Speed Clean Water Pressure Boosting | Eight 230V and 400V Models
The Hidro Boost AutoSmart+ VSD is a premium variable-speed clean water booster set designed to deliver controlled, consistent water pressure as system demand changes.
Unlike a conventional fixed-speed booster pump that operates at full motor speed whenever it starts, the AutoSmart+ VSD uses an integral variable speed drive and pressure transducer to continually match pump speed to demand. As taps, showers, valves and other outlets are opened or closed, the system adjusts the pump speed to help maintain the selected pressure within the operating capability of the chosen model.
Each packaged booster set incorporates a stainless-steel multistage pump, 24-litre pressure vessel, automatic start and stop, dry-run protection, discharge non-return valve and fixed connecting pipework. Eight configurations are available across four hydraulic performance curves, with a choice of 230V single-phase or 400V three-phase operation.
The range delivers up to 5.2 bar or up to 158 litres per minute — approximately 9.5 m³/h — depending on the selected model and operating point. The Hidro Boost AutoSmart+ VSD is designed and assembled in the United Kingdom.

Controlled Water Pressure as Demand Changes
Water demand within a building rarely remains constant. One moment a single tap may be running; the next, several showers, washbasins, appliances or commercial outlets may be operating together.
A fixed-speed booster pump runs at full speed whenever it is switched on. As system demand rises and falls, the pressure available at the outlets can also rise and fall.
The AutoSmart+ VSD provides a more refined solution. Its pressure transducer monitors the discharge pressure and sends feedback to the variable speed drive. The drive then increases or reduces motor speed to maintain the selected pressure as closely as possible.
This makes the AutoSmart+ VSD particularly suitable where:
- Several outlets may be used at different times
- Water demand changes significantly throughout the day
- Consistent shower or washroom pressure is important
- Excessively high pressure at low demand is undesirable
- A premium single-pump pressure-boosting solution is required
- Part-load energy consumption is an important consideration
The selected pressure can only be maintained while the required flow remains within the chosen pump’s performance curve and there is an adequate water supply to the pump inlet.

Why Choose a Variable-Speed Booster Set?
More Consistent Outlet Pressure
The variable speed drive reacts to changes in system demand by altering pump speed. This helps maintain a more stable pressure than a simple fixed-speed start-and-stop system.
Pump Speed Matched to Demand
The pump does not necessarily need to run at maximum speed whenever water is required. At lower demand, the VSD can reduce the motor speed while continuing to maintain the selected pressure.
Potential Part-Load Energy Savings
Where system demand varies, reducing pump speed can reduce electricity consumption compared with operating an equivalent fixed-speed pump at full speed whenever it runs. Actual savings will depend on the system curve, selected pressure, demand profile and commissioning settings.
The manufacturer describes its variable-speed booster technology as adjusting pump speed to maintain constant pressure during changing flow demand.
Adjustable Pressure and Speed Settings
The pressure setpoint and speed-related settings can be configured during commissioning, allowing the system to be tailored to the application rather than relying on a single fixed operating arrangement.
Automatic Start and Stop
The pump starts automatically when pressure falls due to water demand. When the outlets are closed, pressure recovers and the system stops the pump automatically.
Built-In Dry-Run Protection
Dry-run protection helps prevent the pump from continuing to operate where an adequate water supply is unavailable.
Bluetooth Connectivity
Bluetooth connectivity is available according to the additional product information supplied, providing connectivity to the integral VSD. The compatible application and available configuration or diagnostic functions should be confirmed before this feature is described in greater detail.
24-Litre Pressure Vessel
The supplied pressure vessel provides a stored volume of pressurised water, helps stabilise system operation and can satisfy very small demands without unnecessarily starting the pump each time.
Stainless-Steel Multistage Pump
The clean-water pump is manufactured in stainless steel and uses a multistage design to provide the combination of pressure and flow required for residential and commercial boosting applications.

The standard AutoSmart+ uses a Smart10 electronic pressure switch, whereas the premium version uses a variable speed drive and pressure transducer.
Choose the standard AutoSmart+ where a dependable automatic fixed-speed booster set meets the duty.
Choose the AutoSmart+ VSD where changing demand, multiple outlets, pressure stability or premium system control justify the additional investment.
How Does the AutoSmart+ VSD Work?
1. An Outlet Is Opened
When a tap, shower, valve or appliance begins drawing water, system pressure starts to fall.
2. The Pressure Transducer Detects the Change
The pressure transducer measures the discharge pressure and communicates the change to the variable speed drive.
3. The Pump Starts and Adjusts Speed
The VSD starts the pump and adjusts the motor speed according to the pressure setpoint and current demand.
4. Demand Increases or Decreases
As further outlets are opened, the drive can increase pump speed. As outlets are closed, it can reduce speed while continuing to target the selected pressure.
5. Demand Ends
Once all outlets are closed and the system pressure has recovered, the controller stops the pump automatically.
The 24-litre pressure vessel provides a small reserve of pressurised water and helps stabilise operation during minor or intermittent demand.

What Does “Constant Pressure” Mean?
The AutoSmart+ VSD adjusts pump speed to target the selected discharge pressure as demand changes.
This does not mean that the system can provide any flow at any pressure. Constant-pressure operation remains subject to:
- The selected pump’s performance curve
- The available inlet pressure
- The amount of water available at the inlet
- Pipe length and diameter
- Vertical elevation
- Friction losses through valves and fittings
- The number of simultaneous outlets
- The maximum permitted pump speed
Where the required flow exceeds the capacity of the selected model, pressure will fall even if the VSD is operating the pump at maximum speed.
Correct hydraulic selection therefore remains essential.
How to Select the Correct AutoSmart+ VSD
The correct model is not necessarily the unit with the largest motor or highest maximum pressure.
Selection should be based on the required flow and residual pressure at the same operating point.
Provide Henry Pumps with:
- Required flow in litres per minute
- Required pressure in bar
- Number and type of outlets
- Number of outlets likely to operate simultaneously
- Static incoming pressure
- Dynamic incoming pressure where available
- Water source or break-tank details
- Height from the water source to the highest outlet
- Pipe diameter
- Approximate pipe length
- Significant valves, filters or fittings
- Available electrical supply
- Whether single-phase or three-phase is preferred
- Any requirement for standby or duty/assist operation
Henry Pumps can then match the application to Curve A, B, C or D and confirm whether the AutoSmart+ VSD is the correct type of booster set.
Installation and Water Regulations
The AutoSmart+ VSD should be selected, installed and commissioned by competent plumbing and electrical personnel.
The installation should provide:
- A sufficient and dependable water supply
- Correctly sized inlet and discharge pipework
- Isolation valves
- Suitable drainage arrangements
- Appropriate backflow protection
- Adequate electrical isolation and protection
- Ventilation around the variable speed drive
- Access for commissioning and maintenance
- Protection from frost
- Protection from direct weather exposure
- Correct pressure-vessel commissioning
- Pipework and fittings rated for the maximum system pressure
