ME Series F555 Industrial Wash Water Hose Reel Pedestal Kit – 20m x 19mm
Complete Freestanding Spring-Rewind Washdown Station with Galvanised Fluid-Path Pedestal
The ME Series F555 Industrial Wash Water Hose Reel Pedestal Kit provides a complete, freestanding washdown point for locations where there is no suitable wall, frame or building structure on which to mount a conventional hose reel.
The package combines an automatic spring-rewind F555 steel hose reel with 20 metres of 19mm internal-diameter water hose, a heavy-duty trigger-operated water gun, painted-steel pivot bracket, feeder hose and a robust galvanised-steel pedestal.
An integrated fluid path through the pedestal allows the fixed water supply to be connected at the rear of the stand. Separate valves are provided for isolating the incoming water and draining the hose system for maintenance or frost preparation. Once the pedestal has been securely fixed to a suitable base, the installer can connect the water supply and commission the washdown point.
The complete hose reel system has a published working pressure of 20 bar - approximately 300 psi.

Why Choose a Pedestal-Mounted Hose Reel?
A wall-mounted hose reel is not practical at every washdown location. Open yards, treatment sites, loading areas, remote plant compounds and equipment islands may not have a suitable nearby building or supporting frame.
The pedestal package allows the reel to be installed as a permanent freestanding washdown station.
It is particularly useful where:
- No suitable wall is available
- The washdown point must be positioned centrally
- The hose needs to serve more than one direction
- Water pipework rises from below ground
- A clearly defined cleaning station is required
- The reel must be located close to machinery or process equipment
- A permanent alternative to loose hoses is preferred
The standalone pedestal is manufactured from galvanised steel with a predrilled mounting plate designed to accept the F555 reel arrangement.
External suitability does not mean that the complete exposed reel is weatherproof or frost protected. Environmental conditions must still be considered.
Built-In Fluid Path
The galvanised pedestal incorporates a fixed bulkhead fluid path rather than requiring the incoming water hose to be loosely routed around the outside of the support.
This arrangement:
- Allows the fixed water supply to connect at the rear of the pedestal
- Creates a tidier installation
- Reduces unsupported feeder hose
- Keeps the principal connection close to the structure
- Simplifies isolation and drain-down
- Helps protect the feeder arrangement from routine site activity
The feeder hose then connects the pedestal outlet to the rotating inlet on the reel.
The exact external incoming connection size should be confirmed on the completed Henry Pumps assembly before publication.
Separate Isolation and Drain Valves
Two separate valves perform different functions within the pedestal assembly.
Incoming Isolation Valve
The isolation valve shuts off the water supply to the reel. It should be closed before:
- Inspecting the hose or gun
- Disconnecting any component
- Carrying out maintenance
- Draining the assembly
- Leaving the unit out of service for an extended period
Drain-Down Valve
The second valve provides a route for water retained within the pedestal, feeder arrangement and hose system to be drained.
This is useful for:
- Planned maintenance
- Depressurisation
- Winter preparation
- Reducing water trapped within exposed components
- Draining the unit when it will remain unused
The original product description specifically identifies one valve for isolation and a separate valve for drainage during maintenance or frost preparation.
Drain-down must be carried out as part of a proper site procedure. Simply opening the valve may not remove every pocket of water from the reel, hose, trigger gun or connecting fittings.
Pivoting Reel Mount
A painted-steel pivot bracket is included between the reel and pedestal.
This helps the reel follow the direction in which the hose is being pulled, which may be beneficial where the washdown point serves several sides of a work area. It can also reduce severe sideways loading on the hose guide compared with a reel that is permanently fixed in one direction.
A swivel or pivot bracket is included.
The reel should be positioned so that its movement cannot:
- Strike nearby equipment
- Trap fingers against the pedestal
- Conflict with vehicles or walkways
- Apply excessive load to the feeder hose
- Obstruct the isolation or drain valve
Automatic Spring-Rewind Operation
The F555 uses an internal spring mechanism to retrieve the hose after use.
The operator pulls out the required length of hose and uses the trigger gun to control the water flow. After the washdown task is complete, the hose is guided back towards the reel while the spring rewinds it onto the drum.
This helps prevent the 20-metre hose from being left across floors, roadways and work areas. The source specification describes the F555 as a retractable hose reel and confirms the 20m × 19mm hose arrangement.
The hose must remain under control during retraction. It should not be released and allowed to rewind freely.
Large-Bore 19mm Wash Water Hose
The supplied hose is 20 metres long with a 19mm internal diameter, approximately ¾ inch.
The larger hose bore is intended to provide a useful wash-water flow across a substantial working radius. Actual litres per minute will depend on:
- Available inlet pressure
- Incoming pipe diameter
- Pedestal fluid-path bore
- Feeder-hose size
- Trigger-gun restriction
- Fittings and backflow devices
- Elevation
- Site water-supply capacity
Heavy-Duty Trigger Water Gun
The supplied trigger-operated water gun allows the user to start and stop water flow directly at the end of the hose.
This helps:
- Reduce unnecessary water use
- Provide immediate operator control
- Simplify intermittent washing and rinsing
- Avoid repeated trips back to the pedestal valve
- Keep the hose outlet closed when moving between tasks
Typical Applications
The pedestal kit is recommended for appropriately designed washdown points at:
- Water and wastewater treatment sites
- Pumping stations
- Utility compounds
- Reservoir and process-water facilities
- Maintenance depots
- Industrial yards
- Factories and manufacturing sites
- Engineering workshops
- Vehicle and plant-washing areas
- Agricultural premises
- Construction compounds
- Equipment islands
- Open areas without a suitable mounting wall

Pedestal Foundation and Fixing
The pedestal must be fixed to a suitable structural base.
The installation assessment should consider:
- Total assembled weight
- Hose-pull forces
- Forces generated as the reel pivots
- Foundation material and thickness
- Anchor type and embedment depth
- Edge distances
- Pedestal baseplate dimensions
- Fixing-hole centres
- Ground level and drainage
- Vehicle movements
- Potential impact protection
- Buried services
- Access for operation and maintenance
For most permanent external installations, an appropriately designed concrete foundation will normally provide a more dependable base than lightweight paving or an unassessed slab.
Anchor specification should be determined by a competent installer once the completed assembly weight, baseplate and expected loads are known.
Positioning the Washdown Station
The pedestal should be located so that the 20-metre hose can reach the intended work area without routinely crossing:
- Vehicle routes
- Public walkways
- Stairs
- Sharp edges
- Open tanks
- Electrical equipment
- Hot machinery
- Unprotected process areas
The operator should be able to reach:
- The hose gun
- Incoming isolation valve
- Drain valve
- Reel mechanism
- Feeder hose
- Mounting bolts
The pivoting reel also needs sufficient clearance to move without striking nearby structures.
Frost Protection and Drain-Down
The pedestal includes a separate drain valve, making winter preparation easier than on a basic fixed-mount reel.
A typical shutdown process may require:
- Closing the incoming isolation valve
- Opening the trigger gun to release system pressure
- Opening the pedestal drain valve
- Extending or positioning the hose to assist drainage
- Emptying water from the gun and exposed fittings
- Leaving the assembly in the condition specified by the site procedure
The exact procedure should be established during installation.
The pedestal itself is not heated or insulated. Where reliable operation must be maintained during freezing conditions, select the ME Series Frost-Protected Cabinet Wash Water Hose Reel Kit instead.
