The Tsurumi OMA5 submersible drainage water pump is a strong and efficient pump engineered in 304 stainless steel and thermoplastic.

Excellent flow and pressure is generated by the Tsurumi OMA5 from an energy-efficient 150-watt motor, which makes it ideal for many domestic and industrial applications, particularly in cellars and processing duties. It is also popular with water companies, who select it for its advanced features and reliability.

The close, compact positioning of the optional, integral tube float switch (OMA5), is particularly suited to applications where a sump is narrow or where a traditional pendant type floats operation could be fouled.

Long-term, trouble-free operation is enhanced further with an integral vent valve to prevent air locking. The 316 stainless steel shaft is fitted with an ultra hard-wearing twin mechanical seal (inboard: silicon carbide-silicon carbide) running in an oil chamber and a semi-vortex thermoplastic impeller.

Supplied with 10 metres of heavy duty rubber power cable.

Users of Tsurumi OMA in 230 volts have the option to select from two versions: the domestic is supplied with a hose tail, a hose clip (for fitting to flexible discharge hose) and a 3 pin plug (fitted with a 5 amp fuse).

Manual version (OM5) is supplied without the tubular float switch.

Auto version (OMA5) comes with the tubular float switch for fully automatic operation.

The industrial has a female BSP outlet (for fitting rigid waste pipe) but a plug is not supplied. 110 volt pumps are supplied as industrial.

Offered with a 3 year guarantee, the Tsurumi OMA5 range of submersible pumps are the ideal choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Tsurumi OMA5 best used for?

The Tsurumi OMA5 is best suited to compact sump chambers, basements, cellars, utility rooms, plant rooms and other areas where clean or lightly dirty water needs to be removed automatically.

It is particularly useful where space is restricted and a traditional pendant float may not have enough room to move freely.

Why does the OMA5 use a tubular float switch?

The tubular float switch is designed for compact or narrow sump chambers where a standard pendant float could catch on the chamber wall, pipework or pump body.

Instead of swinging outwards, the float operates vertically within a tube, making it better suited to tight installations and more predictable automatic operation.

A conventional pendant float needs space to swing up and down as the water level changes. This works well in larger chambers but can be unreliable in narrow sumps if the float snags or catches.

A tubular float moves vertically in a fixed position, which makes it more compact and more suitable for confined sump pits.

What level does the pump turn on & off at?

The OMA5 is designed for restricted spaces, but the float still needs enough water depth to rise and fall correctly.

Tsurumi lists the automatic OMA5 with an approximate ON level of 222mm and OFF level of 66mm, so the sump should be deep enough to allow the automatic float to operate properly.

What is the difference between the OM5 and OMA5?

The OM5 is the manual version and does not include the tubular float switch.

The OMA5 is the automatic version and includes the tubular float switch, allowing the pump to switch on and off automatically as the water level rises and falls.

What is the difference between domestic and industrial versions?

The 230V domestic version is supplied with a BSP outlet & hose tail, hose clip and 3-pin plug, making it suitable for flexible hose connection.

The industrial version has a female BSP outlet for connection to rigid pipework and is not supplied with a plug. The 110V versions are supplied as industrial versions.

If you are unsure, choose the domestic version which cover all bases.

What hose or pipe do I need with the OMA5?

The OMA5 has a 1¼” / 32mm outlet, so 1¼” / 32mm hose or suitable rigid pipework is commonly used, depending on the version selected.

If you are using flexible hose, the domestic version is generally the more convenient option. If you are connecting into fixed pipework, the industrial version may be more suitable.

Can the OMA5 pump dirty water?

Yes, the OMA5 can handle clean or lightly dirty water. Tsurumi lists the OMA5 with a 10mm free passage, so it can cope with light debris or small suspended particles - silts, fines etc.

It is not designed for heavy sludge, rags, stones, sewage or large solids.
